When planning a wedding the venue easily comes at the top of the list of most important things to book (along with a VR wedding video of course). In this short article we have listed our top 5 venues in the Cambridgeshire area and a little bit beyond, these have been chosen from personal experience of either attending weddings or working at the venue.
So here we go, in no particular order:
This wedding venue is steeped in history, from Henry VIII to the Dukes of Manchester, the castle itself is set in acres of beautiful lawns and trees. A mass of moulded steps lead up to the main entrance which lend a hand to great wedding photos and video. Inside the venue is just as immaculate in every way, with its large ceilings, beautiful crown mouldings and huge oil paintings – it is the epitome of opulence from an era long gone. The staff are all welcoming, professional, attentive and very helpful.
I had to include this venue, it is where I got married last year and I truly believe we chose a great venue. Home of Samuel Pepys and Oliver Cromwell this is a stately home wedding venue at an amazing price. You simply can not beat this venue for price in the area, we got married in peak season and it was a quarter of the price of any other venue of similar standard. Price isn’t everything and even though this venue is less than others it definitely does not skimp on quality, we had a buffet meal that we could have kept eating for days after, a gorgeous old library in which you can enjoy your wedding breakfast, a grand hall for evening entertainment and huge grounds, woods and court yards to get every picture imaginable in.
This venue is quite unique in the sense if you choose to get married here you are wed in a room which overlooks a huge working waterwheel, it is a beautiful sight and makes a brilliant backdrop for you wedding pictures to be taken. This venue doesn’t stop there though, outside in the grounds the venue has so many gorgeous areas to have pictures or video taken, little wooded areas, bridges, long lawns… your wedding videographer/photographer will be spoilt for choice in which to capture you. Being a hotel also gives benefits to your guests as they can stay on site the evening of the wedding.
I shot at this venue last year and let me tell you, it has the best wedding food I have ever seen or had the pleasure of eating in fact one of their chefs got to the late stages of MasterChef last year! Again if you choose to get married at the venue you get the opportunity to enjoy the great hall which is just a wonder to admire, after this you would be led to the immaculate laws for reception drinks where you can just sit back and enjoy the River Cam and the delights it has to offer including punting! Like all the other venues we have mentioned your wedding album or video will be full of gorgeous images with grand backdrops.
I first shot here last year, it was the last wedding of the season and wow what a way to finish the year off. Granary Estates is a group of historic barns that have been converted into an amazingly romantic venue, a small barn is used for the ceremony and can be decorated how you wish, then for the evening reception the large barn has gorgeous uplighting and enough space for every guest to eat, dance and chat the night away. This venue is simply one of the most beautiful in the area. The staff at Granary barns are some of the best I have worked with, nothing was too much trouble and the day I shot ran as smooth as anything.
